Mudroom - 99% Done!

After almost a year and a half, the mudroom is all but done. We have to do the trim around the window and a second coat of paint on bottom but those are small things at this point. Yippie!!!!

Renovations 2013 (Mud room)

Well my blogging has been terrible in 2013. Maybe one of my 2014 goals should be to get on board with blogging. Oh well.

Most of you have seen the deck, expanded garden and orchard area so I will not bore you with those pictures. The most time consuming project of 2013 has been the mud room. We are hoping to have it completed after the New Year (fingers crossed). Right now we are waiting on drywallers and siding guys. Once drywall is up, we can start priming, building wainscoting and painting. Luckily we have a friend helping us with the cubbies/lockers. The last piece will be laying the floors which I feel will be a trial.

Who Needs a Fireplace (aka John's "Day off")

John wanted to made clear that this was all my idea and that was not what he had planned to do on his day off. Now that that is straight, below are pictures from the removal of the fireplace hearth and facade. Since we put in the new door and took at the window, we have been contemplating building the mudroom. Removal of the fireplace is part of that project. As you can see, Caleb was acting as laborer/foreman of the project :)

 

Catching Up (Again)

Yesterday we braved the insanity that is NYC and went to the city for the day. We went to the Natural History Museum, walked around Central Park, checked out the tree at Rockefeller center and of course, went to the LEGO store. Rockefeller Center was nuts but we survived. Luckily, Big John did have any kind of firearm on his person. I took a few pictures at the museum. The crowds were so bad at the tree that I dare not fish my camera out. Despite sleeping most of the train ride home, the boys are a little rough around the edges today.
